How to fix Google Chrome update errors

Actual symptoms

When I open Google Chrome settings and then "About Chrome," it usually automatically updates to the latest version without any problems, but this time the User Account Control screen opened just once.

After pressing OK, the update will fail after a while with "Error code 3:0x80080005 — system level".

Solution

1. Install the latest version

1. Download Google Chrome from the official Google Chrome page:

https://www.google.com/intl/ja_jp/chrome/

2. Run the downloaded "ChromeSetup.exe" to install.

After installation, the computer will usually restart automatically, but if it does not, restart it manually.

This should stop the error from appearing, but if the error persists, try deleting the registry values related to Google Chrome and then running the installation.

2. Delete the registry values related to Google Chrome

If you operate the registry incorrectly, it may cause problems such as the system being unable to start. Please make a backup in advance using system restore or similar, and proceed at your own risk.

To avoid panicking if your PC suddenly breaks down, it's a good idea to have a standard backup software to protect your important photos and data.

1. Press Windows key + R to open Run, type "regedit" and press Enter.

2. The Registry Editor will open, so open the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Google\Update\Clients\{430FD4D0-B729-4F61-AA34-91526481799D}

3. Right-click on the "{430FD4D0-B729-4F61-AA34-91526481799D}" key and click "Delete".

Don't worry, if you delete this registry value, it will be recreated when you install Google Chrome.
