Paint in Windows 11 was recently updated with support for dark mode and optimizations to the toolbar.
However, after this update, a problem with fonts has occurred.

This time, we will introduce a font-related issue in the recently updated Paint app and a temporary workaround.
If you follow the method introduced here, the font and character size will no longer change automatically, and with a little effort you will be able to type normally.
Paint font issues and temporary solutions
Symptoms and causes
First, change the font and size.
The next time you try to enter text, it will always be changed to "Yu Gothic UI."
If you enter hiragana (full-width characters) as is, the font size will always be changed to "10.5".
The cause of this problem lies in the design of Paint itself.
Paint is compatible with Japanese and other languages, but after testing it appears to be designed for use in an English environment.
2023 / 12 / 14:
We have confirmed that the font and color issues in Paint have been resolved in the latest version.

Problems with the new version of Paint app in Win11 and temporary solutions
Temporary workaround
Keep the paint closed.
1. Press Windows Key + R to open Run, type the following command and press Enter:
ms-settings:regionlanguage-setdisplaylanguage
2. "Language and Region" will be displayed, so click "Add a language."
3. You will be asked to select the installation language. Select "English (United States)" and click "Next."
4. Check only "Language Pack" and click "Install."
Please wait until the installation is complete.
5. Once the installation is complete, click and hold "English (United States)" and move it over "Japanese" without releasing it.
*Place "English (US)" at the top.
Your preferred language is now "English (United States)".
Since the preferred language is set to "English (United States)", other apps may be displayed in English. In that case, please prioritize "Japanese".
It's easy, just put "Japanese" at the top.
Enter text in the specified font and size
Open Paint. (The menu will be in English.)
At this point, even if you try to enter text, it will no longer change to "Yu Gothic UI."
If you enter half-width characters as they are, they will be entered in the specified font and size.
However, when you enter full-width characters, the font and character size do not change, but the characters you enter are entered in "10.5" of "Yu Gothic UI".
To instantly change this to the specified font and size, press Ctrl + A (Select All) on your keyboard.
The text you enter will then be converted to the specified font and size.
Please watch the video to see the actual input.
This method is for Paint version "11.2304.33.0".
This is a temporary solution, so we hope to see a future update from Microsoft.
2023 / 09 / 13:
The font issue can be temporarily addressed, but the color issue exists.
In particular, when using dark mode, if you enter full-width characters, the characters you entered will not be visible, so if you first enter the first character in half-width characters, the text will return to normal.

Current issues and update information for version "11.2201.22.0"
2023 / 09 / 18:
We have summarized the currently confirmed issues in version "11.2201.22.0".
- When displaying Japanese, if you enter characters in some fonts and press Enter, the font will change to "Meiryo."
- If you enter full-width characters after selecting a font, the font is not applied.
However, since there are no color issues, it is easier to use than version "11.2304.33.0".
This is not a bug, but if you reset the Paint app, the Japanese display will change to English, and the folders necessary for Japanese display will be deleted from the "WindowsApps" folder.
Microsoft.Paint_11.2201.22.0_neutral_split.language-ja_8wekyb3d8bbwe
Extract the above folder from the Windows 11 ISO file and copy it to the "WindowsApps" folder, then run the command to return to Japanese display.

- A command to display in Japanese has been added.
