Google Chrome profiles store browsing data such as favorites, history, and passwords for each account.
Recently, there was a bug in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge that made it impossible to view passwords.
Issue with not being able to view or save passwords in Chrome and Edge
The passwords appeared to have vanished, affecting 2% of Chrome users (approximately 1500 million people).
Fortunately, my passwords were not actually lost, but just in case, I recommend setting up your Chrome profile to automatically back up on a regular basis.
If you have a backup, you can always restore it.
Where are Chrome profiles stored?
Chrome profiles are stored in the following locations:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data
Copy the above path, press Windows key + R to open "Run", paste the path and press Enter to open it.
Each account's profile data is stored in the "Default" folder in the "User Data" folder, and in a folder called "Profile number" if there are multiple profiles.
The method for automatically backing up your Chrome profile on a regular basis is the same as the method we previously introduced, "How to automatically back up your Microsoft Edge profile on a regular basis," so please refer to the following page to set it up.
