Before restoring:

  • The process takes time, so if you are using a laptop, be sure to connect the AC adapter to prevent the battery from running out during the process.
  • Although they say that user files will not be affected, the fact that they recommend backing up means that there is a possibility that there will be some impact, so be sure to back up any important files.

After the restore:

  • Some apps and programs will need to be reinstalled.
  • Any changes you made to settings after upgrading to Windows 11 will be lost.

  • The "password you previously used to sign in" is the password you used before updating to Windows 11. If it hasn't changed, there's no problem.

*If you forget your password, you will not be able to sign in after restoring it. If there are no problems, click "Next".

11. Once the restoration is complete, the original Windows 10 will boot.

*Once the restoration is complete, the "Windows.old" folder located directly under the C drive that was created after the upgrade will be deleted.

In my testing environment, after completing the upgrade, I ran Windows Update (still at 22H2) and updated apps from the Microsoft Store, and after clicking "Restore to Windows 10," it took about three minutes for the system to be restored to Windows 10.

The more changes you make after the upgrade, the longer it will take to restore.
