Resolves an issue that may cause Windows 11 23H2 PC reset or recovery to fail

Microsoft released the out-of-band (OOB) update KB5066189 for Windows 11 version 23H2 on August 19, 2025.

KB5066189 fixes an issue introduced in KB5063875, released on August 12, 2025, that could cause device reset or recovery to fail.

This issue occurs when you do one of the following:

RemoteWipe CSP is a configuration service provider (CSP) that allows you to remotely erase (wipe) data on a device when the device is lost or stolen.

KB5066189 is not normally installed automatically.

Windows Update If "Get the latest updates as soon as they become available" is set to "Off" on this screen, the same screen will display a link to download and install update KB5066189.
