Windows 11 version 24H2 is expected to be released around September or October 2024.
Older PCs may no longer be supported by 24H2 and may not even be able to boot into Windows.
*Please be especially careful if you are installing Windows 11 on a PC that does not meet the system requirements.
3 Serious Risks to Know Before Installing Windows 11 on an Unsupported PC
In addition, it appears that PCs with third-party UI customization apps installed will be unable to update to 24H2 due to compatibility issues.
When it comes to UI customization apps, some of the most popular are "ExplorerPatcher" and "StartAllBack," but other apps may also be restricted.
The reason for this restriction is that problems have occurred in the past when performing Windows Update in environments where these apps were installed.
*It is possible that restrictions will be introduced with updates before 24H2.
There are currently ways to work around the restrictions, but we don't recommend them as they may cause security or performance issues or even prevent Windows 11 from booting.
And even if you don't experience any problems, your current workarounds may eventually become ineffective.
It's a good idea to get used to the Windows 11 Start menu, taskbar, etc. now, but I think that creators of UI customization apps will continue to update them in the future.
However, the app will likely be updated after the Windows update, so we recommend checking the update information and uninstalling it before updating Windows.
Finally, we would like to reiterate that we do not recommend using third-party UI customization apps (which modify system files) as they have compatibility issues with recent versions of Windows 11.
