Causes and Solutions

1. The battery is low

If you're using a wireless mouse or keyboard, you may experience loss of connection if the battery gets low.

If you think something is wrong, try charging it.

2. The USB port is broken

If there is something wrong with the USB port you are using, the connection may be interrupted.

Try connecting to a different port and see what happens.

3. Corrupted driver

If there is an issue with the mouse or keyboard driver, the connection may be interrupted.

Please try reinstalling the driver as this may solve the problem.

How to reinstall the driver

1. Click the bottom left (center) of the screen.Start buttonRight-click on it and click "Device Manager".

2. Once Device Manager opens, click the ">" to the left of "Keyboard."

3. One or more keyboard devices (the name will vary depending on your environment) will be displayed. Right-click on each device and click "Uninstall device."

7. If you uninstall the driver for the mouse you are currently using here, the mouse will be disconnected and you will not be able to operate it.

If this happens, don't panic; just unplug the USB mouse from your PC and plug it back in.

This will automatically install the keyboard and mouse drivers that you just deleted, and you will be able to use them as usual.

8. If you are using Windows 11, please reboot your computer.

There are differences in the mechanisms between Windows 10 and Windows 11. In Windows 11, be sure to restart your computer if you make any changes to the drivers. If you do not restart your computer, the driver may not be recognized correctly.

4. Power Management

1. Refer to the "How to reinstall the driver" above, right-click on each device, and click "Properties."

2. If "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is checked, uncheck it and click OK.

"Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is a battery-saving feature that may or may not be available depending on your environment.

If this feature is enabled, you may experience connection interruptions.

5. Radio interference

If you are using a wireless mouse or keyboard, radio wave interference from home appliances using the same frequency (mainly 2.4GHz) can cause the mouse or keyboard to malfunction or lose connection.

For example, if you are using a television or microwave while playing a game, radio wave interference may occur.

approach

  • Move away from televisions, microwaves, etc.
  • Place an aluminum plate between your TV or microwave and your PC
Metal reflects radio waves, preventing interference, but can weaken your signal if you're using Wi-Fi.

6. Power Options

In the power options, the USB power saving settings are enabled by default, and the connection will be cut off if there is no operation for a certain period of time.

This is a feature that some users may not need.

Disabling this setting will prevent USB devices from being disconnected.

1. Press Windows key + R to open Run, type "powercfg.cpl" and press Enter.

2. Power Options will open, so click "Change plan settings" to the right of the plan you are currently using (selected).

The settings are now complete, so close the Power Options window by clicking the "X" button.

7. Windows Update

If you experience loss of connectivity to USB devices such as a mouse after performing a Windows Update, try reinstalling the driver after the update.

If reinstalling the driver doesn't solve the problem, try uninstalling the problematic update, although this is not recommended as it will weaken your security.

Also, if your version of Windows is outdated, updating to the latest version may resolve the issue.

8. USB devices and cords

If the above method does not solve the problem, the USB device itself may be faulty or the cable may be broken.

If you have an alternative USB device or cord, try connecting it and see if it works.
