After upgrading to Windows 11 or performing a Windows Update, apps installed by default (such as Paint) may stop working properly.
If this is the case, trying to repair or reset the app may help.
Why Windows 11 default apps don't work
- Windows 11 issues
There may still be unknown bugs in Windows 11. These bugs may affect the behavior of default apps.
- Windows Update issues
Windows Updates can sometimes cause compatibility issues with default apps, such as when older versions of apps are not compatible with the new OS.
- App issues
There may also be an issue with the default app itself, such as it being corrupted or you're using an outdated version.
Solution
Repair and Reset
1. Press Windows Key + I to open Settings.
2. Click "Apps" on the left.
3. Click "Installed Apps" on the right side.
4. For example, if "Paint" is not working properly, click "... (More options)" to the right of "Paint."
5.A menu will appear, so click on "Advanced options".
6. If you scroll down the right column, you will see an item called "Reset."
7. First, perform "repair."
8. Once the repair is complete, check the operation of the app and if the problem persists, perform a "Reset."
9. When you click the reset button, a confirmation screen will appear, so click "Reset".
*There is no close button for "Reset," but you can cancel by clicking somewhere else, such as the desktop.
10. Once the reset is complete, check that the app is working properly.
アプリの再インストール
If repairing or resetting the app doesn't work, try reinstalling the app.
1. Refer to the "Repair and Reset" section above and open the "Advanced Options" for the app you want to uninstall ("Paint" in this case) and click "Uninstall."
2. A confirmation screen for uninstallation will appear, so click "Uninstall".
3. Open the Microsoft Store app.
4. In the top search box, type "paint" (the name of the app in question) and press Enter.
5. "Paint" will appear, so click the icon.
6. If you see "Open" here, click it, then close the Microsoft Store app, reopen it, and search for "paint."
7.Then it will change to "Install", so let's install it.
If there are no other issues, the app will work fine.
