However, when you try to use it, you may encounter a mysterious error message that says, "This file does not have an app associated with it to perform this action. Install an app, or if one is already installed, create an association on the Default Apps settings page." This leaves you unable to use essential functions, leaving you in a difficult situation.

Cause
The system has been updated with a recent Windows Update, which has also changed the troubleshooting section.
As a result, you now need the latest app to use the latest troubleshooting features.
This issue occurs if you have turned off "App Updates" for the Microsoft Store app and have not manually updated the "Inquiries" app.

To use the latest troubleshooting features, you need the latest version of the Contact Us app.
Solution
1. Open the Microsoft Store app.
2. Click the "Library" icon in the bottom left and then click the "Update" button to the right of the "Inquiry" app.
If you don't see "Contact Us" in the Microsoft Store app library
If you don't see "Contact Us" in your Microsoft Store app library, try searching for it by typing "Contact Us" in the search box at the top of the Microsoft Store app.
"Inquiry" will then be displayed, so select it, open it, and then click "Update" or "Get."
*We recommend updating "Microsoft Store" and "App Installer" before updating "Inquiries."
If you don't see these, try opening the Microsoft Store app library and clicking the "Get updates" button. This will automatically update all your apps.
Please wait a moment for the download and installation to complete.

3. Once the "Inquiry" app update is complete, close the Microsoft Store app and try troubleshooting.

The latest troubleshooting screen has been changed to ask for consent before running the troubleshooter.

Select "Yes" to begin the diagnosis.

Windows 11 troubleshooting can solve simple problems, so we recommend running it if you're not sure what the cause is.
