Microsoft released a preview of update KB5037853 for Windows 11 versions 22H2 and 23H2 on May 29, 2024.
KB5037853 includes many new features and fixes, but some features will be rolled out gradually.
It's not immediately available and it may take several weeks for all features to become available.
Additionally, the issue where a checkerboard pattern would appear when playing videos, which was a problem in Chrome and Edge (Chromium-based applications), has been fixed.
Until recently, users were sharing that this issue was caused by NVIDIA graphics drivers, but the root cause was on the Windows side.

- *New! This update adds a feature to prevent accidentally closing Windows sharing windows. Clicking outside the window will no longer close it. To close the window, select the close button in the top right corner.
- *New! You can now use your mouse to drag files between breadcrumbs in the File Explorer address bar. Breadcrumbs display the path to the current file location in the address bar. For example, the path "This PC > Windows (C:) > Program Files" has three breadcrumbs.
- *New! This update adds a Linked Devices page to Settings > Accounts, where you can manage your PCs and Xbox consoles. This page appears in Home and Pro editions only if you sign in to Windows with a Microsoft Account (MSA).
- *New! With this update, we'll begin rolling out a new Account Manager in the Start menu. When you sign in to Windows with your Microsoft account, you can see your account benefits at a glance. This feature also makes it easier to manage your account settings.
- *New! You can now create a Quick Response (QR) code for a web page URL or cloud file from the Windows Share window. Select the Share button on the Microsoft Edge toolbar and select "Windows Share Options." You can then share the URL or file across devices.
- *New! Windows now backs up many of your sound settings (including sound schemes) by turning on the Remember my settings and Personalization and Other Windows Settings check boxes. You can find these by going to Settings > Accounts > Windows Backup. You can then use the Windows Backup app to restore these settings on a new device.
- *New Feature: Starting with this update, you can now sign in to your Microsoft account in the Windows Backup app, and the app will store your backups in your account.
- *New! You can now send yourself an email from a Windows sharing window. The email will be sent to the email address registered to your Microsoft account.
- *New! With this update, we'll begin rolling out an "Add it now" button in Settings > Accounts that lets you add a recovery email address to your Microsoft account if you don't already have one. This button will only appear if you're signed in to your Microsoft account.
- This update addresses an issue affecting File Explorer, which becomes unresponsive when swiping from the edge of the screen. This issue occurs after turning off edge swipes.
- This update addresses an issue that affects the handwriting panel and touch keyboard: the handwriting panel and touch keyboard do not appear when using a pen.
- This update addresses an issue that causes invisible windows to appear, with title bars that have no content and no client area. This occurs when you share your screen using certain apps.

In my environment, it took about 10 minutes to install KB5037853 (it stopped briefly at 69% during installation), and after the installation was complete and I restarted the computer, the sign-in screen appeared about 5 minutes later.
KB5037853 removes the ability to move files by dragging them onto the address bar in File Explorer, which was discontinued in Windows 11 version 22H2 update KB5030310 (September 26, 2023) and later.As a new featureIt has been added.
The feature that many users once supported has been discontinued, making it very inconvenient.
Microsoft has now brought it back as a new feature in response to requests from many users.
In my environment, this feature is not currently enabled, and I was unable to move files by dragging them to the address bar in Explorer. *This feature is already enabled.
