I also noticed a striped pattern appearing for a moment when using Chrome.
2023 / 08 / 26:
Some users on the NVIDIA GeForce forums have reported that disabling hardware acceleration can help with striping and flickering issues in Chrome and Edge.
On or Off? Hardware Acceleration in Chrome and Edge
2023 / 09 / 02:
After trying out a few different patterns over the course of a few days, I was able to confirm that the small checkerboard and screen flickering glitches in Chromium-based applications disappeared.
- If you disable hardware acceleration only in your browser, such as Chrome or Edge
- If you turn off only Windows hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling:
If you disable only the hardware acceleration of your browser, such as Chrome or Edge, videos may stutter when watching YouTube videos in some environments, so we recommend turning off only the GPU scheduling using the Windows hardware accelerator.
In my environment, the issue only occurs when both are turned on.
2023 / 09 / 05:
Today I noticed a checkerboard pattern appearing for a moment while using Chrome.
I'm trying to turn off Windows hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling and Chrome hardware acceleration to see what happens.

The solution was found in a comment on the NVIDIA GeForce forums. (User:MojoJojo84)
The setup process for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge is almost the same.
1. Enter "chrome://flags" for Google Chrome or "edge://flags" for Microsoft Edge in the address bar and press Enter.
2. Type "Choose ANGLE graphics backend" in the search box and you'll see the following:
Select the graphics backend for ANGLE. D3D11 is used by default on most Windows computers. Using the OpenGL driver as the graphics backend may improve performance in some graphics-intensive applications, especially on NVIDIA GPUs. This may increase battery and memory usage. Video Playback – Windows
"Choose ANGLE graphics backend" – Google Translate
3. Change "Default" to "OpenGL".
4. Click the "Relaunch" button in the bottom right.
The setup is now complete.
I am currently checking with both Windows hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling and Chrome hardware acceleration turned on.
2023 / 09 / 11:
After changing to "OpenGL" the other day, the problem of the checkerboard pattern appearing for a moment has not occurred at all.
