If deleting the cache or reinstalling doesn't solve the problem, try the method introduced here.
What to do if you experience issues with typing in Chrome or Edge
This may be because an "experimental feature" that is not in the normal settings was enabled at some point, so try resetting it.
Chrome operation
Enter the following code into Chrome's address bar and press Enter:
about:flags
The settings screen (feature in experimental stage) will appear, so click "Reset all".
"Relaunch" will appear at the bottom of the browser. Clicking it will restart Chrome.
Once Chrome starts, check to see if the issue is resolved.
How to do this in Microsoft Edge
Enter the following code into the Edge address bar and press Enter:
about:flags

The settings screen (feature in experimental stage) will appear, so click "Reset all".
"Restart" will appear at the bottom of the browser, click it and Edge will restart.
Once Edge starts, check to see if the issue is resolved.
