Many people put their computers into sleep mode when they leave them for a short time or before going to bed at night, but sometimes they may wake up automatically even though you haven't touched them.

Causes and solutions for wake-up from sleep mode

1. Task Scheduler

Windows 10/11 has a feature called Task Scheduler that allows you to schedule tasks to run when Windows starts or periodically.

Some of them are:Set to automatically wake up to perform a task at a scheduled timeThere are cases.

For example, in the image below, you can see that the option "Wake to run tasks" is checked.

If you uncheck this item, your computer will not wake up when you run a task.

2. Power Options

1. Press Windows key + R to open Run, type "powercfg.cpl" and press Enter.

2. Power Options will open. The checked plan is the currently set plan, so click "Change plan settings" on the right.

3. Click "Change advanced power settings."

4. Click the plus sign to open "Sleep" and you will see "Allow wake timers." Click the plus sign to open it.

*In the image, "Plug in" is set to "Important wake-up timer only."

5. Change "On battery" and "Plugged in" to "Disabled" and click OK.

*If the problem cannot be resolved by changing the power options settings, try changing the "Automatic Maintenance" settings.

3. Automatic Maintenance

1. Press Windows key + R to open Run, type "wscui.cpl" and press Enter.

2. "Security and Maintenance" will open, so click "Maintenance".

4. Uncheck "Allow scheduled maintenance to wake the computer" and click OK.

In Windows, maintenance will start automatically at the "Maintenance task execution time".

Even if your PC is in sleep mode, if the "Allow scheduled maintenance to wake my computer" option is checked, it will automatically wake up your PC and begin maintenance (if your PC supports waking from sleep).

If you disable Automatic Maintenance using the settings above, your PC's performance may gradually decrease.
