What is the "Thread Stuck in Device Drivers" error?

The error occurs when the driver enters an infinite loop while waiting for the hardware to become idle.

When this error occurs, the system crashes and a blue screen appears with the error message "Thread Stuck in Device Drivers" at the bottom of the screen.

Solution

Try the following solutions in order, starting with "1".

1. Run Windows Update

If you get the "Thread Stuck in Device Drivers" error, it's possible that there's a bug in Windows, so try running Windows Update to see if that resolves the issue.

Press Windows Key + R to open Run, enter the following code and press Enter:

Windows Update will open, so click the "Check for updates" button.

It will start checking for updates and if any are available they will be displayed below.

Optional updates may also be displayed, so if there is an update for your display driver among them, update it.

Optional updates are not optional and will not be installed unless you manually install them.

This optional update may also include some bug fixes.

3.The "How do you want to search for drivers" screen will be displayed. Click "Search automatically for drivers."

This will start a search for the driver and if a new driver is found it will be installed automatically.

If you see the message "The best driver for your device is already installed," try searching for newer drivers on your PC manufacturer's website.

Check the current driver version

Before searching for new drivers on the manufacturer's website, make sure you know your current driver version.

Right-click on the adapter name and click "Properties."

When you open the Driver tab, the driver version will be displayed to the right of "Version:".

This driver version can be selected and copied with the mouse.

3. Uninstall the application

Did you install any applications before the error occurred?
