Win10/11 Solved! "REAGENTC.EXE: Windows RE image not found"

This time, we will introduce the cause and solution if you are unable to run the command "reagentc /enable" to enable WinRE in Windows 10/11 and receive the error message "REAGENTC.EXE: Windows RE image not found."

Causes and Solutions for "REAGENTC.EXE: Windows RE image not found"

Cause

The reason for the message "REAGENTC.EXE: Windows RE image not found" is that the Windows RE image (Winre.wim) has been deleted for some reason.

The "reagentc" command is not unusable; the Windows RE image (Winre.wim) cannot be found. Therefore, you can still run the "reagentc /disable" command to disable WinRE, which was originally enabled.

I also had the error "REAGENTC.EXE: Windows RE image not found" on one of my PCs, and I was able to resolve it using the method introduced here.

Solution

Extract the Windows RE image (Winre.wim) from the Windows 10/11 ISO file.

1. Download and run the "Media Creation Tool" from the official Microsoft website.

  • I am very grateful that this article helped me revive a recovery tool that had become unusable without me realizing it.
It doesn't show up as a recovery partition on the disk management screen, but since I bought a used PC it seems to be a cloned SSD and I saw an uncertain AI answer that it may not show up depending on the software I use, but I'm glad as long as I can use the recovery options without any problems.

    Thank you again.
