Bug in Windows 10 Notepad? "File .txt not found." KB5040427

Today, when I started Notepad on Windows 10, I encountered a bug that displayed the message "File .txt not found. Would you like to create a new one?"

This may only be the case in my environment, but if you experience the same symptoms, please refer to this.

About Notepad

Version 19045.4651 is the same OS build as KB5040427, which was released on 2024/07/09, so while we can't be certain, it's possible that this update is the cause.

If you see the message "File .txt not found. Do you want to create a new one?", click "No" to continue using it as is.

Clicking "Cancel" will close Notepad.

In either case, the next time you start the program, the message "File .txt not found. Would you like to create a new one?" will be displayed.

If you click "Yes", a file named ".txt" will be created in your user folder, and the above message will no longer appear the next time you start the program.
