A tool to launch the Win11 Copilot app with the discontinued Win + C

Last time, we introduced how to launch the Copilot app using a shortcut key, but we found that there is a bug in both Windows 10 and Windows 11 that may cause it to not work properly.

Once the Copilot app is installed, you will no longer be able to launch Copilot using the Windows key + C shortcut.

*The shortcut key Windows key + C has been discontinued in the Copilot app.

Therefore, we created a tool called "OpenCopilot" that is not affected by bugs and allows you to launch and exit the Copilot app using the shortcut key Windows key + C.

Supported OS: Windows 11 only.

Learn more about OpenCopilot

Once "OpenCopilot" is installed, it will be registered in the user's startup and will launch immediately and remain resident.

*The tool will be installed in the "C:\Program Files\OpenCopilot" folder.

While OpenCopilot is running, you can launch the Copilot app by pressing the Windows key + C shortcut.

If the Copilot app is already running, close it.

You can now launch and exit the Copilot app by pressing Windows key + C.

The advantage of this tool is that when you exit Copilot using the shortcut key "Windows key + C," the process is also terminated.

By default, if you terminate the Copilot process using Alt+Space (if enabled) or the X button, the Copilot process will remain active and will not be terminated.

This is because Microsoft has made it resident to speed up the next startup. It does indeed make startup faster, but only by about 1-2 seconds.

If the Copilot process is running, it will consume approximately 80MB of memory at all times, so if you are not using it frequently, it is best to close the process.
