The maximum memory capacity that can be installed in your computer depends on the motherboard.
If you are planning to add more memory, you need to know the maximum memory capacity that can be installed.
In addition to checking the motherboard manual or manufacturer's website, you can also check the available memory capacity using the following method.
How to know how much memory your PC can accommodate
Open a command prompt as an administrator, type the following command, and press Enter:
wmic memphysical get maxcapacity
This will display the maximum memory capacity that can be installed. In the image above, it shows "16777216".
This "16777216" is in kilobytes (KB), so let's convert it to gigabytes (GB).
Open your calculator and calculate 16777216÷1024÷1024.

The answer you get is the maximum memory capacity your PC can accommodate (16GB).
More memory is not always better; the amount of memory required will vary depending on your environment (usage conditions).
8GB may or may not be enough.
If you are planning to purchase a computer with Windows 11, we recommend that you choose one with 16GB or more of memory.
