Is this a Chrome bug? Why does "landscape" appear as "landscape" when printed?

After receiving an inquiry from a user and investigating, we confirmed that there is an issue where the layout "landscape" is displayed as "landscape" on the print settings screen that appears when printing a web page in Google Chrome.

The "vertical" has not been changed, only the "horizontal" is written as "landscape".

I investigated this issue and identified the cause.

The reason why the layout "horizontal" has changed to "landscape" is because the Google Chrome version has been updated to 128.0.6613.85 (Official Build).

Version 128.0.6613.85 adds new features and It includes fixes for over 30 vulnerabilities, so we strongly recommend updating as soon as possible.doing.

In addition to these updates, Chrome's language files have also been changed, which is causing the issue.

Chrome language files are located in:

C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\128.0.6613.85\Locales

"ja.pak" in the "Locales" folder is the Japanese language file.

Version 128.0.6613.85 is a required update, and the notation issue will likely be fixed in a future update, so please do not downgrade.

  • Landscape? I tried it and immediately understood, but I couldn't figure it out after researching various things, so this was helpful.

    Thank you all!

  • So it was a Japanese file on Chrome's side that was the problem. I was confused as to what the problem was, so this is helpful. Until the other day, it was normal to view both portrait and landscape, so I was wondering what was going on.

    • Thank you for your comment, Siden.

I checked afterwards and it had been changed to "風風" in all languages. Example: English "Landscape"
