This time, we will show you how to change the size of the three buttons in the upper right corner of Windows 11 Explorer: - (Minimize), ▢ (Maximize), and ✕ (Close).
The benefit of resizing the three buttons is that the larger ones reduce the mouse travel distance, which can improve performance a little.
Even if you increase the text size in Settings > Accessibility > "Text Size," the three buttons will also become larger, but this method will change the size of the three buttons without changing the text size.
Please also refer to this if the size of the three buttons does not return to normal even after increasing the text size and then changing it back to normal.

To change the size of the - ▢ ✕ buttons in the top right corner of Explorer, you need to edit the registry.

2. The Registry Editor will open, so open the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics
3. With the "WindowMetrics" key selected, change the value data for "CaptionHeight" and "CaptionWidth" in the right column.
The default value data for both values is "-330".
Precautions:
- Enter the same number for the value data of "CaptionHeight" and "CaptionWidth".
- Please enter a value between "-285" and "-500".
If you make the number too small, the icons for quick access in Explorer and the Registry Editor will also become small.Task tray (notification area)Some icons will be blurry.
Also, if you make the number too large, the size of the - ▢ ✕ will be too large and the display in Explorer will be distorted.
4. Once the changes are complete, sign out. (Restarting Explorer will not affect the changes.)
Once you're signed in, open File Explorer.
The following image compares the "CaptionHeight" and "CaptionWidth" values when set to "500", the default, and "150".
If you set it to "500", the three buttons become larger.
If you set it to "150" here, the quick access and bottom right icons are too small and hard to see.
The Registry Editor icon is also smaller.
