Change the save location of screenshots (Snipping Tool) in Win11

You can find the location of your screenshots by pressing Windows key + R to open the Run box, then typing "shell:screenshots" and pressing Enter.

How to change where screenshots (Snipping Tool) are saved

If you operate the registry incorrectly, it may cause problems such as the system being unable to start. Please make a backup in advance using system restore or similar, and proceed at your own risk.

To avoid panicking if your PC suddenly breaks down, it's a good idea to have a standard backup software to protect your important photos and data.

You can change the location where screenshots are saved by right-clicking on the folder, but if you do it incorrectly, strange things could happen.

A simple operation can actually cause problems and be difficult to undo, so here we will introduce a method of making changes using the Registry Editor that has no side effects.

1. Press Windows Key + R to open Run, type "regedit" and press Enter.

2. The Registry Editor will open, so open the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

3. With the User Shell Folders key selected, double-click the following expandable string value on the right:

{B7BEDE81-DF94-4682-A7D8-57A52620B86F}

4. Enter the full path of the folder where you want to save screenshots in the Value data field and click OK.

5. Sign out of your PC and sign in again to change the location where screenshots are saved.

You can take screenshots of the right-click menu by switching to the older version of the Snipping Tool.
