Since June 10th and 11th, 2025, there have been many reports of PCs from certain manufacturers (GIGABYTE, Fujitsu, Mouse, etc.) running Windows 10 or Windows 11 being unable to boot after a Windows Update.
Since the problem first occurred, there have been some responses from the manufacturer, but there has been no official announcement from Microsoft.
Many users are probably wondering, "Why doesn't Microsoft announce such a serious bug?"
Since I wasn't even sure if Microsoft was aware of this, I contacted Microsoft support.
The issue has been reported by both Windows 10 and Windows 11 users, and Microsoft is aware of it.
When I asked about the root cause of this problem, I was told,Firmware (BIOS/UEFI) or bootloader compatibility issuesIt seems that they are." was the reply.
Recent fixes include fixes to Secure Boot and the boot menu screen.
We were also informed that a community advisor had suggested a workaround.
- Completely drain the power: Disconnect power, remove battery (if possible), and press and hold the power button for 60 seconds.
- Reset BIOS settings: Enter BIOS and load default settings.
- Toggle Secure Boot and CSM: Disables Secure Boot and enables Legacy Support (CSM).
- Use official recovery media: Use the Microsoft recovery tools to recreate a bootable USB.
In some environments, there are models where the CSM settings cannot be changed. This may not be the case for models affected by this issue, but if you disable Secure Boot and select "CSM Boot" to start the OS, it will not start.
In this case, disable Secure Boot and boot using "UEFI Boot".
I asked if Microsoft would take any action regarding this issue, but there was no clear answer, and it seems that the only options are the workarounds mentioned above or support from the manufacturer.
Each manufacturer has also released a solution, so we recommend that you take a look at the "Models affected by each manufacturer's problem" below.
